  • SmarterMail Upcoming Maintenance

    This evening at 10PM MDT we will be performing an update to our primary SmarterMail server, build 7384. This build comes with numerous changes and improvements as well as bug fixes…

    • Added new toggle switch in dark mode to switch between a dark and light reading pane. (Similar to Windows Mail.)
    • Added Trust Sender and Block Sender options in context menu for email addresses
    • A non-trusted sender’s FROM address shows both the display name and email address, if available, to help identify phishing scams
    • Adjusted size/padding of attachment card to allow three attachments to be shown per row when drafting an email
    • Calendar appointment detail view has been redesigned to follow the flow of iOS. Subject and location fields now support multiline
    • Dark theme has been redesigned for better clarity and sharpness
    • The mailing list term Moderator has been changed to List Administrator to better reflect its purpose
    • 8-bit non-UTF8 encoded messages appear broken when synced via EAS to iOS devices and Outlook
    • Category filters do not work in Notes, Tasks, Contacts, and Calendar All Appointments grid views
    • Editing a Note improperly modifies its creation time
    • Images sometimes do not show in attachments tab of web interface
    • MAPI does not account for domains that have an unlimited max message size. 
    • MAPI does not update a folder when an email is deleted from an EWS client. 
    • MAPI is not showing some attachments correctly. 
    • MAPI now excludes private events in calendar shares. 
    • Multi-day all-day appointments do not show properly when synced via Add to Outlook. 
    • Private calendar events do not sync with the private flag using MAPI
    • Some users are getting “This message is no longer on the server” in POP3 clients
    • Scenario where a web calendar downloads an update but some events may not reflect the changes
    • The calendar Now indicator line is incorrect if the user’s machine timezone is different than the server’s timezone

    This evening (Friday, January 31st) at 10PM MST, our network administration team will be performing maintenance and upgrades to our core routers. This maintenance will include upgrades to the equipment OS. Please expect periods of no network connectivity, packet loss and latency spikes. During this maintenance window, websites, email, databases and any other servers and services within our CenturyLink facility in Denver, Colorado will be unavailable. Services that outside of this location will not be affected, however, access to control panels and management systems will be unavailable.

    • Resolves an issue with Brasilia time zones in EWS
    • Resolves an issue with attachments not displaying correctly in some protocols
    • Resolves several issues with POP3
    • Several MAPI efficiency improvements

    During this time, all servers and services within our Denver, Colorado location will be unavailable or sporadically offline.

    Tonight, August 11th at 12AM MDT we will be performing an update to our primary SmarterMail server, build 7153. This build has many bug fixes and improvements.

    • Adding an appointment to a domain calendar does not show in All Appointment web interface view without a page refresh
    • Cannot import ICS calendar file into a domain calendar
    • Dismissing a reminder in Outlook for Mac (EWS) does not work
    • Implemented EWS SendItem command for AquaMail Android client app
    • Messages with malformed or unparsable HTML do not fallback to plain text view

    And numerous other fixes and improvements.

    During this time, our incoming gateways will process and hold any incoming email and deliver them once we have completed the update.

  • SmarterMail Upcoming Maintenance (Restored)

    This Saturday, June 29th at 10PM MDT we will be performing an update to our primary SmarterMail server, build 7117. This build has many bug fixes and improvements.

    • Deleting a task from either calendar or task page does not update the task list until the page is reloaded.
    • Error when trying to re-upload a failed file without refreshing the page.
    • Inline attachments in message may be duplicated when downloading all attachments.
    • Issues with syncing in EWS clients after 1000s of messages are deleted through the web interface.
    • Recurring events created in webmail are syncing to EWS clients with a start date that is 24 hours later.
    • Scenario in which IMAP client could delete the Inbox (it would be removed from interface and syncing but not from disk).
    • The appointment timezone banner shows {} instead of actual date-time values.
    • Timezone information could be lost with recurring weekly events created in EWS clients when synced to SmarterMail.

    During this time, our incoming gateways will process and hold any incoming email and deliver them once we have completed the update.

    Our systems administration team will also be taking this time to complete the previous Server 2019 upgrade attempt. The issues causing the previous upgrade to fail have been resolved and we fully expect the migration to complete without issues.

    Update (5:40AM MDT): Rollback has completed, SmarterMail will be online momentarily.

    Update (3:35AM MDT): Rollback is nearly halfway completed. We expect another hour or so before the rollback is completed.

    Update (2:50AM MDT): Unfortunately we are unable to get the SAN system to mount even with the assistance of the SAN system vendor. We are rolling back to Server 2016.
