  • Carrier Maintenance – Level 3 Scheduled Network Maintenance

    Level 3 has notified us that on Saturday, November 11th sometime between 1AM and 3AM MST they will be performing network maintenance and core routing upgrades to further improve network performance and reliability. They expect this upgrade to last no longer than 30 minutes.

    During this time, all servers and services within our Denver, Colorado location will be unavailable.

  • SmarterMail Upcoming Maintenance

    Friday, October 27th at 10PM MDT we will be performing an update to the SmarterMail service on our primary SmarterMail server. This is a bug fix release with some minor improvements and resolves some issues that customers have reported, including…

    • Importing large contact CSV files no longer results in a browser error
    • Domain calendars do not sync all items with the correct date over EWS
    • All-day events sometimes spam 2 days depending on the timezone
    • The BCC header field is being stripped out of the Sent Items message
    • Misc. language updates for reported language errors
    • Windows 10 Fall Update fails autodiscover for IMAP
    • The Font Size options in Account Settings does not match the Font Size options within the editor

    During this time, our incoming gateways will process and hold any incoming email and deliver them once we have completed the update.

  • What are the requirements for the OneSignal addon module?

    The requirements are listed below. The module may work under different conditions, but has only been tested by our developers in these scenarios. This article assumes that your system, server and PHP installation meets the requirements of WHMCS itself. Their requirements can be found here https://docs.whmcs.com/System_Requirements

    • Clear understanding of using WHMCS as well as uploading, installing and configuring addons and gateways
    • PHP 5.6 or higher
    • WHMCS 7.x (we do not support alpha, beta or release candidate builds)

    This evening at 7PM MDT we will be performing an update to the SmarterMail service on our primary SmarterMail server. This update finally addresses random performance issues with the webmail interface as well as major improvements to the import of contacts from CSV files. These bugs have also been squashed in this update (as reported by our customers)…

    • Domain calendars and shared notes not automatically updating for EWS clients
    • Unread mail count not automatically update if you were not on the mail page
    • Calendar appointments being created with the wrong day from the webmail interface

  • WEB12 – Windows Server 2016 / IIS 10 Upgrade – Incomplete

    Tomorrow, Saturday the 14th at 8PM MDT we will be performing the Windows Server 2016 upgrade for this web server farm. We are allocating a 2 hour window for completion of this. This will upgrade the core OS to Windows Server 2016 and upgrades IIS to v10. IIS 10 introduces support for HTTP/2 as well as additional performance improvements for our web server farms.

    During this time, all websites and access to FTP as well as SmarterStats will not be available to the WEB12 farm. If you are unsure as to which web server your account is assigned to, you can review the “Services Information” area of the control panel at https://panel.aspnix.com/, the “Web Server” section.

  • Outlook 2016 – Disable Simplified Account Creation

    An updated release of Outlook 2016 (16.0.8431.2079) has started a new “Simplified Account Creation” utility that does not allow for setting up ActiveSync enabled accounts. The following steps will resolve this and return Outlook back to the original account creation utility.

    1. We are not responsible for issues caused by editing your registry!
    2. Download the registry file at https://billing.aspnix.com/dl.php?type=d&id=151
    3. Shutdown Outlook 2016, if it is running
    4. Extract the registry file from the downloaded zip in step #2
    5. Right click on the registry (.reg) file and choose “Merge”
    6. Select “Yes” to continue
    7. Select “Ok” to confirm the merge has completed
    8. Open Outlook 2016

    This will now allow you to use the original account creation utility.

  • Important Information Outlook 2016 and ActiveSync Users

    Sadly, it appears that Microsoft is beginning to pull ActiveSync support from Outlook 2016, begging with an update released on September 12th that has disabled ActiveSync support for new accounts (existing accounts will continue working). This is a very poor decision on Microsoft’s part, however, SmarterTools is working to add MAPI support into SmarterMail which will offer better integration with Outlook than ActiveSync did.

    We highly recommend eM Client, which can be downloaded here – http://www.emclient.com/download – It is free for up to 2 accounts and supports Exchange Web Services, free! Exchange Web Services will allow eM Client to sync your email, calendars, tasks etc. just like ActiveSync, but without the licensing costs of ActiveSync. eM Client also includes a built-in chat system that can also connect to SmarterMail’s built-in chat system so you can chat with your colleagues and more!

    Please note that ActiveSync is still required for mobile devices if you wish to sync the above items.

  • SQL Server 2017 Upgrade / Maintenance

    This Saturday, October 7th, 2017 at 9PM MDT we will be performing and upgrade of our SQL Server system to SQL Server 2017. During this time, any websites or external / 3rd party systems that rely on our SQL Server system will be unavailable. We highly recommend that all customers create and download a backup of their databases before this upgrade is performed.

    If you haven’t already, we recommend that customers that rely on this application download the 17.1 release of SSMS by visiting this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/download-sql-server-management-studio-ssms – This version will allow you to connect to SQL Server 2008 – 2017 and supports Windows 7 (SP1), 8, 8.1 and Windows 10 as well as Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2 and Server 2016 (64-bit versions only).

    This upgrade will not take as long as the previous 2016 upgrade as no data has to be moved or migrated, this is an in-place upgrade.

    This Friday, October 6th, 2017 at 10PM MDT we will be performing an update to the SmarterMail service on our primary SmarterMail server. We will also be performing an upgrade to the RAID storage sub-system that will allow for much faster I/O and access times, this will improve the load times of the Webmail interface. We expect this update to take no longer than 60 minutes.

    During this time, our incoming gateways will process and hold any incoming email and deliver them once we have completed the update.
