We are currently performing emergency disk maintenance on the WEB06 web server. We are performing a RAID data verification. The process will take about an hour to complete and is being performed to make sure the RAID structure is 100% as users have reported website performance issues and random website errors.

Thank you for your patience during this time.

  • ASPnix services and the POODLE SSL exploit

    1 comment October 16th, 2014

POODLE SSLWe’ve had many customers contact us and ask about the recent POODLE SSL exploit going around the Internet over the past day or so and we would like to comment publicly about our customer’s private data and its safety / security here with us. ASPnix’s corporate servers such as aspnix.com, billing.aspnix.com, panel.aspnix.com and tspanel.aspnix.com are not vulnerable to the POODLE SSL exploit.

All of our corporate servers have SSL 3.0 disabled and have had it disabled for some time now. Our servers also have the older RC4 ciphers disabled as well as older hashes such as MD5 disabled. All of our corporate systems also support Forward Secrecy and Strict Transport Security (HSTS). We take our customer’s private data seriously which is why we strive to disable older out-of-date technologies and protocols before they are opened to exploits such as SSL 3.0 and RC4.

You can view our billing system’s SSL report / rating https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/analyze.html?d=billing.aspnix.com here.

As for client shared-SSL and client web servers, we are working to secure them, we’ve not disabled SSL 3.0 on shared-SSL due to the issues of blocking out older browsers such as IE 6 on Windows XP, we felt it was not right at the time to disallow certain browsers from accessing a client’s website. However, in light of the recent heightened attacks against SSL we feel it is now time to disable SSL 3.0 and older ciphers globally on all of our systems. We will notify all clients before this change takes place so that you and your visitors are not caught off guard.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support department and we will be happy to address them!

Thank you for choosing ASPnix as your web hosting provider!

  • Upcoming emergency maintenance to all TeamSpeak services

    No comments October 15th, 2014

Beginning at 1AM MDT (7AM GMT) we will start updating all of our TeamSpeak services to the latest TeamSpeak server build available. The latest update addresses an issue that could trigger the server not to start properly or abruptly shutdown. To make sure we do not have any instability issues we are doing this update ASAP.

We expect this to take no longer than 3 – 5 minutes (possibly less for some servers). Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time.

Thank you for choosing ASPnix as your TeamSpeak provider!

  • What are the requirements for the Pushover Client for Windows?

    No comments October 14th, 2014

The requirements are listed below. The module may work under different conditions, but has only been tested by our developers in these scenarios. Requirements in red are a must and are required for the application to work properly.

    • Microsoft .Net 4.0 or higher
    • Visual C++ Runtime 2010 (x86 / x64)
    • An “always on” Internet connection
    • Windows Vista or higher

An active Internet connection is required for the application to maintain a constant connection to the Pushover.Net services. Without a constant connection, the application cannot be instantly notified about incoming messages.

  • TS01-GA Network / Latency Issues (Resolved)

    No comments October 14th, 2014

We are working closely with our network technicians and 3rd party network providers to find the exact cause of the random latency spikes and packet loss. Unfortunately it is a complicated issue as there are many parties involved and getting the right one to own up to the issue and get it resolved is hard. However, we are looking into the cause. This issue only appears to affect certain areas of the US and certain ISPs as not everyone experiences such issues.

    Network / latency problems include…

    • Higher than normal latency / ping response time
    • Erratic latency / ping response time
    • Choppy / poor voice quality
    • Connection loss or inability to connect

If you’ve experienced any latency issues or voice quality problems, please let us know!

  • TeamSpeak Control Panel Updated – New Features & Bug Fixes

    No comments October 8th, 2014

We are pleased to announce that we’ve updated our TeamSpeak control panel to support customizable hostnames! While we’ve had the ability to provide custom hostnames, it required you to submit a ticket and was cumbersome and annoying for our users! This is no more and is now a thing of the past! You can now create and manage your custom hostname from right within the control panel, no more submitting tickets, no more waiting! You can access this option under the “Server Hostname” icon. We’ve also imported all existing hostnames to user accounts as well.

We’ve also addressed a long-standing bug that stopped the “Remember Me” feature from working correctly. Users who select this option should now no longer have to login again once the browser has been closed. Note that if you use any cleaner addons or applications like ccleaner, make sure they do not delete the cookies for tspanel.aspnix.com or the “Remember Me” feature will no longer work.

    Full changelog…

    • Added custom hostname support
    • Fixed “Remember Me” not “remembering”
    • Fixed checkboxes not displaying properly in Chrome
    • Fixed web list not enabling / disabling properly when editing the server

If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Thank you for choosing ASPnix as your TeamSpeak provider!
