  • Weekend Maintenance Overview

    No comments June 27th, 2015

The upgrades that were scheduled for this weekend have been partially completed. The upgrades to our router have been completed without issues. The new hardware for our 5th generation router is around 10x more powerful than the previous one. Since this was a full hardware upgrade, we’ve also upgraded the router network interfaces to very high-end Intel 10GbE cards. While most of our servers are 1GbE, the boost in the main network cards that handle all the incoming / outgoing traffic has really helped our performance. We fully expect that all customers will notice much better performance and latency from our Denver, Colorado location.

The upgrades for our mail server MX01 did not complete. Due to issues that were not seen in our tests we were unable to complete the migration into our cloud hosting platform. Issues with our Adaptec storage system prevented the installation of Server 2012 R2. The server was restored to its original configuration and brought back online after several hours.

The maintenance for MX01 will be rescheduled at a much later date, possibly towards the end of July. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this, we will have this resolved at a later date.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time and for choosing ASPnix as your hosting provider!

  • Denver Network Maintenance, Hardware Upgrades and SmarterMail Server Upgrades (Rescheduled)

    No comments June 26th, 2015

This evening we will be performing maintenance on our network as well as our router. This maintenance will affect our Denver, Colorado location, all servers and services within this location will be unavailable. We are performing multiple upgrades to our network including upgrading our router’s hardware, including a more powerful processor, more RAM, and heavily upgraded Intel Pro Fiber network cards. We are also implementing full DDOS protection for our entire US network, currently we rely on Level 3’s “on-call” protection which only activates when requested. Our full-time DDOS protection layer will always be running and always be working to improve the stability of our network.

During this time we will also be upgrading our MX01 Smartermail server to Server 2012 R2. This upgrade will bring performance improvements to SmarterMail’s services as well as improved webmail performance with IIS 8.5.

Scheduled Date: 06-27-2015 (Rescheduled from 06-26-2015)
    Scheduled Time:
    5:00 PM – 7:00 PM GMT
    Max Outage Duration: 2 Hours

  • How do I use the fraud protection included with my Braintree merchant account?

    No comments June 25th, 2015

For more information on how the fraud protection through Braintree works and how to enable it within your account, please review their support article here – https://articles.braintreepayments.com/guides/fraud-tools/advanced

To enable fraud protection in our module, please follow the steps below…

    1. Activate Advanced Fraud Tools in your Braintree account – Guide Here
    2. From the WHMCS administrator, open, Setup => Payments => Payment Gateways
    3. Find your Braintree gateway settings
    4. Check / Enable “Enable Advanced Fraud”
    5. Press “Save Changes”
    6. From the WHMCS administrator, open, Setup => Addon Modules
    7. Activate the “Braintree Advanced Fraud Helper” addon module (No permissions need to be set or applied for this module)
    8. You are done!

To test, submit a credit card payment, then check the WHMCS Gateway Log output, find the transaction for the payment you just completed, you should see a field called [riskData] with 2 fields below it called [id] and [decision].

What if I do not know my credit card form DOM id?

Open your client area template creditcard.tpl and viewcart.tpl file with your favorite HTML editor and find the credit card <form> and find the id=”….” the …. will be the DOM id of your form. If your form does not have an id=”….”, you will need to add one to it. If you are unsure how to do this, please contact your web developer. For example, you could add id=”cc-payment_form” then your DOM id name would be cc-payment_form.

If you have any questions about this, please contact our WHMCS Module support department and we will be glad to assist you!

As of Braintree Module release v1.1.2 the form ID is found automatically. If your checkout / credit card forms do not have an id set, you will need to contact your web developer to get this fixed. The <form … id=”…”> must be set in order for the Braintree data library to inject the required form data.

ASPnix provides no warranty and is not responsible for any errors that occur from editing or altering your templates / WHMCS settings.
