  • Which Countries does ASPnix accept Credit Card payments from?

    3 comments October 31st, 2012

Please note that ASPnix is not a Credit Card processor. We simply take the Credit Card details you provide us and pass them to our processor / gateway which is PayPal. PayPal handles all payments through our billing system, for Credit Cards, PayPal Subscriptions, and PayPal Payments.

Their are restrictions / limitations with PayPal and which Countries they accept payments through. Please review the following article that describes which Countries are supported. If your Country is not listed there is no guarantee that we will be able to process / accept payments from your Credit Card.

If you are unable to pay by Credit Card, please see our other payment options.

  • Mail Server system changes and outgoing email policy changes

    1 comment October 31st, 2012

Effective immediately we have made some adjustments to our main SmarterMail mail server to allow better performance, more efficient operation and safe operation for our systems and our users. Below are the changes made to our system…

    • IMAP IDLE command is now disabled – IDLE is useful for getting push-like “new email” notifications to your email client, but it adds extra load on the server. With our systems growing rapidly we have decided to disable this feature to allow for better performance and stability
    • Outgoing SMTP blocking is now enabled – Outgoing emails are now scanned and checked for spam. Any outgoing emails that are detected to be spam or possibly spam will be bounced and sent back. This is due to the growing thread of customers accounts becoming hijacked or compromised resulting in the customer being suspended for sending spam or terminated
    • IMAP and POP retrieval intervals have been changed from 10 minutes to 5 minutes due to customer feedback – External accounts setup within SmarterMail will now be checked for new email at 5 minute intervals
    • SmarterMail Indexing system performance values updated to allow for faster index updates – This will allow for faster updates of your email when doing searches
    • Increased webmail performance by enabling compression / caching on resources (JavaScript, Style Sheets etc.)

These changes should make the SmarterMail experience better for users especially those using the webmail system. This should increase the performance and overall stability of our SmarterMail systems.

If you have any questions please contact our support department.

Thank you for choosing ASPnix as your Windows hosting provider!

  • New York TeamSpeak services unavailable

Comments Off on New York TeamSpeak services unavailable October 29th, 2012

Our TeamSpeak services hosted in our New York City location are currently down due to the impending storm in that area. Below is a copy of the email we have received from our Data-Center provider in that area.

Due to Hurricane Sandy the New York City datacenter (121 W Varick, Manhattan, NYC) is currently disconnected from the power grid and is operating on generator power. It has been noted that the datacenter has sufficient fuel to continue normal operations for the next 4 days. Arrangements are also in place to deliver more fuel if necessary.

Because of the unfortunate power situation there is a possibility that instability may occur. We are hoping that operations will return to normal within the next 24 hours and we are very confident our upstream provider will be working diligently to keep services online.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your continued business.

    Best regards

We will post updates as soon as we have any further information from them.

Thank you for your understanding and our apologies for any inconvenience caused by this outage.

  • Does ASPnix limit the number of queries made per day / month?

    No comments October 29th, 2012

We do not limit the number of queries that can be made against a domain (zone). We do however have anti-DOS attack protections in place to prevent hammering of our DNS services.

  • What DNS server does ASPnix use for the Windows DNS services?

    No comments October 29th, 2012

Our Windows based hosting services use JHSoftware’s Simple DNS Plus. We currently use the latest v5 release. This software provides far better performance and meets the demands of today’s DNS requirements better than any other server we have used to date. It fully supports all DNS record types and DNS standards.
