Coinbase Error – “Merchant tools have been restricted for your account”

Bitcoin Gateway Error - Response: Merchant tools have been restricted for your account.

This error indicates that Coinbase has disabled your Merchant account / Merchant tools or has not yet approved the Merchant account. You will need to contact their support department to find out more information as to why this has happened and what can be done (if anything) to resolve the issue.

Please note that this error has nothing to do with our module and we have no influence over Coinbase’s decision to disable or enable your Merchant account.

Control Panel VPS (Cloud Server) Power Options Updated and Fixed

The VPS (Cloud Server) power options have been updated and the issues related to them have been resolved. Recently users have reported that when shutting down, rebooting or restart their VPS, the operation would hang and never complete resulting in the VPS remaining in the OFF state.

We have also added some fail-safe modes to the “Shutdown” and “Reboot” options to eliminate hanging on non-responsive virtual machines. Thank you to those that have reported and assisted with this hard to track down issue!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our support department.

What is the difference between the “Reboot” and “Restart” VPS power options?

Reboot

This option is the same as it is for your home computer. Choosing the “Reboot” option cleanly shuts down the Operating System and restarts the OS boot cycle.

  1. Shuts down the OS cleanly (if possible)
  2. Turns off the VPS
  3. Turns on the VPS
  4. Boots into the OS

Restart

This option is also the same as it is for your home desktop computer. This option immediately “power cycles” the VPS. This does not cleanly shutdown the OS. It is basically the same as pulling the power cord to your home computer then plugging it back in and turning your computer on.

  1. VPS is immediately turned off (power removed)
  2. VPS is turned on
  3. Boots into the OS

The “Restart” option is common if your VPS has completely locked up or is not responding. The “Reboot” option will force a restart if after 5 minutes the VPS has not cleaning shutdown.

SmarterMail Upcoming Emergency Maintenance

This evening at 10PM MDT we will be performing an emergency update to the SmarterMail service on our primary SmarterMail server. This update fixes a critical IMAP issue that is causing “Invalid UUID” notices for a very small number of Outlook users. The issue appears to only affect older versions of Outlook, such as 2007 and 2010.

Once the update has been installed, if you are receiving such errors with your Outlook installation, the IMAP account having the errors will need to be removed and then added back to Outlook in order to rebuild the local UUID values.

During this time, our incoming gateways will process and hold any incoming email and deliver them once we have completed the update.

This Saturday, July 22nd at 10PM MDT we will be performing an update to the SmarterMail service on our primary SmarterMail server. We expect this update to take no longer than 60 minutes. This is the first major “minor” upgrade to SmarterMail and resolves a very large number of issues and adds some needed improvements, including…

  • Added back the ability to disable loading remote content (images etc.)
  • Added back the ability move the preview pane to the right, bottom or disable completely
  • RSS feeds are sorted alphabetically
  • Added French, German, Italian, Dutch, Czech, and Traditional Chinese translations
  • Fixed an issue where you were not able to dismiss a chat notification
  • Fixed an issue with the dark theme rendering content unreadable for group chats
  • Fixed a performance issue with POP retrieval when a message is ended with a carriage return
  • Fixed an issue where Business hours are saving times an hour earlier than what was actually set

Along with many other improvements and fixes.

During this time, our incoming gateways will process and hold any incoming email and deliver them once we have completed the update.

SQL Server 2016 Upgrade / Maintenance (Update #3 Final)

This Saturday, July 22nd at 8PM MDT we will be performing and upgrade of our SQL Server system to SQL Server 2016. This has been a heavily requested update and we know many customers will be very pleased to see this announcement! We are allocating 2 hours for this upgrade to allow for any issues that may come up. During this time, any websites or external / 3rd party systems that rely on our SQL Server system will be unavailable. We highly recommend that all customers create and download a backup of their databases before this upgrade is performed.

Please note that if you still use the 2014 version of the SQL Server Management Studio application, you will need to upgrade to the 2016 or newer release. Older versions of the application cannot connect to newer versions of SQL Server. We recommend that customers that rely on this application download the 17.1 release of SSMS by visiting this link https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/ssms/download-sql-server-management-studio-ssms – This version will allow you to connect to SQL Server 2008 – 2017 and supports Windows 7 (SP1), 8, 8.1 and Windows 10 as well as Server 2008 R2, 2012 R2 and Server 2016 (64-bit versions only).
