  • USA WEB03 Brief Outage @9PM – 9:13PM (MST) (Resolved)

Comments Off on USA WEB03 Brief Outage @9PM – 9:13PM (MST) (Resolved) August 28th, 2012

At 9PM MST, we were alerted to an issue with web server DENVER WEB03. The services on this server were down for nearly 13 minutes. We are currently investigating the cause of outage and why the server stalled and had to be hard reset.

Currently the server is running well and RAID status shows no issues with the disk health and all monitoring probes are well within limits.

Our apologies for any inconveniences causes by this very minor outage.

Thank you again for choosing ASPnix as your Windows web hosting provider!

  • Can a single dedicated IP address be used with all websites under my account?

    No comments August 27th, 2012

No, a single (1) dedicated IP address can only be used with a single (1) website. If the IP was “shared” between several websites it would no longer be a dedicated IP, it would be a “shared” IP address. If for example, you have 5 websites, each needing a dedicated IP, you will need to purchase 5 dedicated IP addresses.

  • What is the Control Panel Module and do I need it?

    No comments August 26th, 2012

The Control Panel Module is a feature that allows our Windows hosting control panel to “control” your VPS at a more advanced level. For tasks such as adding and managing IIS websites, adding and managing FTP accounts, ODBC connections, file manager and permissions.

Without the Control Panel Module you may still run your website(s) off your VPS, however this requires that you setup IIS, configure it, setup all permissions, application settings, mappings etc. By purchasing the Control Panel Module we will install and configure IIS, the FTP service (FileZilla), and all the associated items such as .Net, PHP, Perl, Web Deploy, IIS Remote Management and all the other technologies and features that our control panel supports.

Most users who run websites on their VPS prefer this method of control as it is much easier to have our control panel do all the heavy lifting when it comes to creating a website and managing it.

Please note that this is not a managed service and can only be provisioned to newly created virtual servers. This is simply provided to make provisioning websites, FTP accounts and other tedious tasks easier. The customer is still responsible for maintaining their server and its services.

If you have any specific questions about this addon, please contact our sales team or chat with one of our sales team members!

  • MX01 Server restarted (Service stalled)

    1 comment August 21st, 2012

At 10:55PM on August 20th the SmarterMail service stalled causing the email services on MX01 to stop completely. SMTP, POP3, IMAP, and the webmail interface was offline for approx. 20 minutes. The XMPP service was not affected by the initial stall, however was brought down when the service was recycled.

No incoming emails were lost due to the outage, our 2 backup mail servers were not affected and were able to catch all email directed to them during this period.

MX01 is now online and running without issues, we have created a dump report of the SmarterMail service and will provide it to SmarterTools for further testing and debugging to see the cause of the service stalling.

Our apologies for any inconvenience caused during this period.
