Windows Server 2008
ASPnix now also provides support for Windows Server 2008. Windows Server 2008 is the latest in the Microsoft’s server line of operating systems and is a successor to Windows Server 2003. Windows Server 2008 is build from the same code as Windows Vista therefore it shares the same architecture and functionality such as IPv6, new security features like Bitlocker and new improved Windows Firewall.
Windows Server 2008 includes Server Core which allows the machine to be configured for many roles for example Domain Controllers, DNS Server, DHCP Server, file server, print server, Windows Media Server, IIS 7 web server.
One of the most important features of Windows Server 2008 is the Windows Powershell which is operated by a command line interface specifically designed for IT administration to make server administration easier for programmers and give and more control over their server. It is based on Object Oriented Programming and Microsoft’s .NET framework 2.0 and includes over 100 system administration libraries.
